Many around the world live in, and/or go to dumps for their meals. This painting was inspired by lovely people living in the dump in Guatemala, who had pride, sweetness and kindness.

While on a medical mission trip doing mobile clinics in the Dominican Republic, the nurses and doctors had respite at a lovely mission complex with a fountain into a goldfish pond. I used the idea for a Koi fishpond, while also incorporating the tropical flowers from the mission complex. The owners who shared their hospitality were an artist and her Veterinarian husband. This painting represents sitting beside the pond after triaging patients, as needed healing repose for caring of the caregiver.
I hope people discover something new each time they look at the scene. And, I love that people have been struck by something different as their favorite area. May the painting provide you with tranquility, a respite for mental & spiritual healing. Merriam-Webster defines Repose as “a place of rest; peace, tranquility; a harmony in the arrangement of parts and colors that is restful to the eye; to rest for support.” These definitions perfectly describe the inspiration of my painting, and what I wish viewers to experience.

The theme of plants was selected because green represents healing, balance-equilibrium, being restful, renewal, & comfort.

Clinicians worked long hours caring for wonderful people, who were rarely, or never, able to receive healthcare.

The mission complex was filled with gorgeous flowers, a peaceful pond and, since the owner was a veterinarian, there were several animals roaming around.
